EntropyAPI Terms of Service

Version: 2026-10-23 · Effective: 2026-10-23

Summary (not binding; the terms below control). EntropyAPI gives developers US drug-reference data. It isn't medical advice, and you must never send patient information. You're responsible for your API keys. Paid plans are monthly subscriptions, sold through Link, that renew until you cancel. There's no uptime guarantee. Training AI models on the data, bulk copying or reselling it needs a written agreement.

These terms are an agreement between you and Entropy Systems LLC, a New York limited liability company ("Entropy", "we"), for the EntropyAPI website, dashboard, API and documentation (the "Service"). You accept these terms on the Terms page during account setup. You must be at least 18. If you accept for an organization, you confirm you can bind it, and "you" means that organization.

1. The Service; not medical advice

The Service provides US drug data from public sources, through the operations in our current API documentation, as reference information for developers. It is not medical advice and doesn't replace a health professional's judgment. You're responsible for deciding whether the data suits your use, how your app presents it and any warnings your users need. Send only drug-reference inputs, never information about a patient or other individual. We aren't your HIPAA business associate and won't sign a business associate agreement.

2. Accounts and API keys

You're responsible for all activity on your account. Keep your API keys secret: requests made with them count as your usage, and usage on a leaked key isn't refunded. Revoke an exposed key right away, and report a compromised account to security@entropyapi.io.

Connected apps. When you sign in to connect an app, such as an AI assistant, it can use your workspace and its allowance until you revoke its key in your dashboard or it goes unused for 30 days. You're responsible for what it does with your account.

3. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • use multiple accounts, or pool Free allowances, to exceed one person's free usage;
  • share, publish or expose your API keys;
  • get around quotas, rate limits or other protections;
  • test our security without written permission;
  • overload or disrupt the Service, or scrape our website;
  • use the Service unlawfully, or where US sanctions or export laws prohibit it;
  • imply that Entropy or a source publisher endorses you, or remove required attributions.

4. Plans

Prices, allowances and workspace limits for the Free and paid plans are on our pricing page (https://entropyapi.io/pricing). Each person may have one Free workspace, usable in production but with no promise of support. Unused requests don't roll over. We may rate-limit traffic and, under heavy load, prioritize paid traffic.

5. Payment, cancellation and refunds

Link is the merchant of record. Paid plans are sold through Link (Sold through Link, LLC, a Stripe company), which processes payment, collects applicable tax, sends receipts and handles payment and subscription support and payment disputes under its terms (https://link.com/terms#sold-through-link-terms). Your statement will show a descriptor beginning LINK.COM*.

Subscriptions. Paid plans renew automatically each month, at the plan's price at renewal, until you cancel, with no minimum term and no fee beyond the price and applicable tax. Upgrades apply immediately, at the prorated difference shown at checkout; downgrades apply at the end of the period. An unpaid renewal moves your workspace to the Free plan after a 3-day grace period.

Cancelling. Cancel anytime in your dashboard or Link account; paid access continues until the period ends. Closing a workspace is permanent and revokes its keys. Closing the only workspace on a paid subscription, or deleting your account, also cancels the subscription and forfeits the remaining paid time without a refund.

Refunds. Cancelling doesn't refund the current period; other refunds are at our discretion. A full refund or reversal moves your workspace to the Free plan. Link may grant refunds under its policy (https://support.link.com/questions/sold-through-link-refunds), generally within 60 days of purchase, and its policy applies where it is more generous than ours. EU and UK consumers: Link handles any consumer right to cancel an order, under its terms.

6. Using the data

You may use and display results in your own applications, send individual results to an AI model at runtime to answer a user's request, and cache results for up to 30 days if your cache doesn't become a substantial copy of our data. Without a separate written agreement, you may not train or fine-tune models on the data, copy or extract a substantial part of it, or resell, sublicense or redistribute it as a data product or data feed, including through your own API.

When your account ends, stop using cached results within 30 days; you may keep individual results already in your users' records. Entropy owns the Service and the identifiers we generate, but not the public source content. We grant no rights beyond these terms and may use your feedback freely.

7. Data sources

Response data comes from the sources listed at https://entropyapi.io/sources and remains subject to their terms. If you display or redistribute it, keep the attributions shown there, including the NCI Thesaurus (CC BY 4.0) credit and the LOINC notice below.

RxNorm content is provided under a UMLS Metathesaurus license from the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM). If you redistribute RxNorm content beyond use within your own application, you are responsible for complying with NLM's terms (https://www.nlm.nih.gov/research/umls/rxnorm/docs/termsofservice.html).

Each response identifies the data it used in X-Data-Snapshot and gives source dates in X-Data-As-Of and in the response body; that data may not be current or complete. Ordinary publisher delays are not a defect. If we lose the right to use a source, we may withdraw its data. No source publisher, including NLM, FDA, NCI or Regenstrief, sponsors or endorses EntropyAPI.

8. Changes

We email at least 90 days' notice of a paid-allowance cut or a breaking change to or removal of an API operation, and at least 30 days' notice of a price increase or other materially adverse changes to the Service or these terms, including Free plan cuts. No change shortens a paid period. We may act sooner, telling you as soon as we can, to comply with the law or a source's terms, withdraw a data release for correctness or safety, or fix a security vulnerability. Other changes take effect when published. You needn't accept changes again; if you disagree with one, cancel before it takes effect.

9. Suspension and closure

After a person reviews the evidence, we may suspend or end your access for a serious or repeated breach, a security risk, unlawful use or a legal requirement. We let you respond first, except for a security threat, ongoing abuse or legal compulsion, when we may suspend and notify you at once.

If we close the Service, we'll give at least 90 days' notice and stop renewals so that no paid period runs past the closure date. If the closure is outside our control, we'll give as much notice as we reasonably can, and you'll receive a pro-rata refund of unused paid time.

10. No warranties; limits on liability

The Service and all data are provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, currency and non-infringement. There is no SLA: no guaranteed uptime, availability or support response time, and no service credits.

To the same extent, Entropy isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, or harm from relying on the data for clinical decisions. Our total liability for all claims is limited to the greater of the fees you paid for the Service in the 12 months before the claim arose, or US$100. These limits apply under any legal theory, even if we were told such damage was possible, but not to fraud or where the law forbids them.

You'll defend and indemnify Entropy against third-party claims arising from your applications, your users' reliance on them, your breach of these terms, or patient or personal information you send in breach of section 1.

11. Disputes

Before you file a claim, email support@entropyapi.io; we'll both try for 30 days to resolve it informally. New York law governs these terms and any dispute about the Service, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes go only to the state courts in Rensselaer County, New York, or the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York, though either party may use small-claims court. To the extent the law allows, each party waives any right to a jury trial and to bring or join a class or representative action. Nothing here limits your rights as a consumer under the laws where you live.

12. General

These terms and the plan details on our pricing page at purchase are the whole agreement about the Service, unless a separate written agreement with us says otherwise. You may not transfer these terms without our consent. If we sell the business, we'll tell you in advance, name the buyer and explain how to cancel, and these terms may then transfer to the buyer. We aren't responsible for events beyond our reasonable control. Notices go to your account email, so keep it current. Unenforceable parts don't affect the rest, and not enforcing a term isn't a waiver. Sections 1, 7, 10, 11 and 12 survive termination, as does section 6 except its permission to use and cache results.
