Search a drug by name, then use its RxCUI everywhere else in the API.
Send your key in the Authorization: Bearer header. Keep it on your server. Never put it in browser code, a URL, a support message or a public repository. The API Playground on your dashboard is the one place to paste a key in a browser: use a key you made for it and revoke it when you’re done. The base URL is https://api.entropyapi.io.
export ENTROPY_API_KEY=<your key>A brand or ingredient name returns the drugs that match, each with an RxCUI you can use everywhere else.
curl --get 'https://api.entropyapi.io/v1/drugs/search' \ --data-urlencode 'q=augmentin' \ -H "Authorization: Bearer $ENTROPY_API_KEY"A drug is the ingredient or ingredients, without strength or packaging. A marketed product is a specific US product and its labeler. If you already have an NDC, barcode or another supported code, look up the code to read what it names.
DRUG-LOOKUP returns a status and CODE-RESOLVE an outcome for each code, so your code can branch on them. A retired RxCUI with one successor comes back redirected; an ambiguous one lists candidate_rxcuis. Other single-code lookups answer 404 when nothing matches and 409 when several records match, and never pick one for you. Keep the request ID from the response if you contact support.
To page through a search, send the returned cursor with the same search. Don’t decode it or use it with another search.
Resolve codes takes up to 100 codes in one call. The batch counts as one request.

meta.sources lists each source behind the answer. data_as_of is the publisher’s own release date, or the day we fetched the source when the publisher states none (UTC, YYYY-MM-DD). retrieved_at is when we last fetched it, as a UTC timestamp. Either is left out when unknown. In the changes feed, recall and shortage dates are the latest FDA release included.
